2022 OWLS WEEKLY/MONTLY GATHERINGS!
NEW THIS YEAR!: We are initiating a new way for the OWLS to reconnect, stay connected, and welcome new members into our group. Also a way to plan a potential PotLuck for 2022. I am proposing a neutral site, such as Festge County Park, where we can enjoy the great Timberframe Picnic Shelters and view the ongoing Prairie and Oak Savanna Restoration!
Informal meetings are on the Agenda, with initial and future get togethers being proposed at the outdoor deck area at Riverside Resort in Spring Green. This is a great area to view one our most cherished local resources, The Lower Wisconsin Riverway, as we enjoy a cold drink or two and share our landowner restoration experiences and maybe finish up a day of paddling on the river with some OWLS comradery!

2021 Prairie Burns:
Baumberger RedBison Prairie Burn:
A late spring, early May prairie burn took place with the assistance of OWLS, Friends, and Family on the 19 acre restored tallgrass prairie at the Baumberger Property. After not burning for 2 years a late burn helped set back non-native grasses and some young woody plants. The burn was conducted into somewhat shifty NW breeze, starting in the SE corner and progressing North by NW. The wind shifted several time, but quickly returned the NW. Adaptations were made as the burn progressed. A very large burn break was in place around the perimeter of the prairie before the burn was ignited. The Burn Crew included: Tom, Zachary, and Elizabeth Baumberger, Anne, Dan and Conner Cutsinger, Paul Kachelmeier, Dave and Jenny Kinzer, John and Muriel Gilbert, David Drews, Photos are attached:
2018 OWLS Potluck at Swamplovers!!
Gerry Goth From Swamplovers has graciously agreed to host our Annual OWLS Potluck at Swamplovers Foundation. We are looking at a late May or Early June date on a Saturday or Sunday, most likely May 19th - 20th or June 2nd - 3rd weekends, so as to avoid Memorial Day. This will be a picnic style event under the shelters on top of the hill. Electrical hookups are available on top, and vehicle transport to top will be allowed. Please give your feedback via email. Tom Baumberger will send out general email.
Gerry is excited to show up their Oak Savanna Restoration progress and talk about their strategies and new "tools"!
Join us for a great day of ecological fellowship, great food, discussions, and view and walk the awesome prairies and savannas at Swamplovers near Cross Plains, WI! Directions and the Swamplovers website can be accessed at: http://www.swamploversfoundation.org/maps/

2017 OWLS Spring Potluck or Backyard Picnic?: Yet to be decided. Either a early Spring Potluck or a Late Spring Backyard Picnic will be discussed shortly. The Late Spring Picnic is an option that could be held after Spring Burn Season commences, and would offer an option for those OWLS with Homesteads that would better accommodate hosting an outdoor OWLS meal gathering.
2016 OWLS Spring Potluck: To be held on March 20th, 2016 at Keith Symon's Property. Property walkabout begins at 3:30 p.m. and Potluck will start at 5:00 p.m. Please see contacts and RSVP with Peggy Timmerman by March 13th.
